CQ are offering a 10% family discount on the Cycling Queensland component of the annual affiliation fee. This applies to a family of at least 3 members - all members must be members of the same cycling club and must join (or reaffiliate) that club at the same time. An application form is attached to this email. THE FORM NEEDS TO BE SENT DIRECT TO CYCLING QUEENSLAND FOR REIMBURSEMENT - NOT TO THE CLUB.

Membership can be renewed on line at cycling.org.au. If you are paying as a family you will not receive the BCRI club family discount on line, so it is best renew through the club.

If paying through the club you can pay at the following locations:

  • 99 Bikes - Milton - See Terry or Adam
  • 99 Bikes - Chermside - See Chris
  • 99 Bikes - The Valley - See Ryan

Getting Started

The Brisbane Cycling Club is a great club to join.  We have an active club of juniors, seniors, masters and athletes with disabilities competing in both track and road cycling events.  With a good complement of coaches, we are able to offer a structured entry into cycling.

It is easy to start racing, you don't need a flash bike, in fact we have some road and track bikes for loan to help you get started. All you need is enthusiasm, some dedication and the desire to don some lycra.

Check out or membership section to see club fees and the joining process. Or head into Victor Cycles in the City or 99Bikes in Milton or Chermside.

Getting Started

Firstly, you'll need some equipment:

  • Buy a good helmet. All helmets sold in Australia need to meet stringent standards, so a more expensive helmet may only offer style, colour or brand.
  • Choosing a bike can be a daunting task. We recommend getting some competent advice when selecting a bike.  The team at 99 Bikes or Victor Cycles can help you.
  • Choose clothing that is comfortable, especially around the seat area.  You can buy lycra stuff when ready.  If you are goint to ride on the road, I recommend that you wear a bright top so that you stand out in traffic (luckily, the BCRI kit stands out).

Secondly, you'll need some bike skills.  It is crucial that you know how to handle your bike, how to ride safely in a group and how to avoid accidents. Join one of our group training rides and let them know you are starting out. You'll get some helpful advice on riding.

Thirdly, if you want to improve, you will need some structured training. Our club coaches can provide you with a training program to get you started, improve your fitness and skills and reduce the likelihood of injury.
